The Founding of APU ASC – Center of Actuarial Excellence
"The idea of establishing an actuarial society in APU was initially communicated with Dr Raja Rajeswari who was our Academic Leader for School of Mathematics, Actuarial and Quantitative Studies (SoMAQS) during the end of year 2018. I was thrilled that Dr Raja was supportive of my idea. After gaining her approval, I conveyed this idea to my classmates, and a club committee which was made up of 11 personnel was formed. Throughout the preparation of the club proposal, Dr Raja provided us with advice and guidance. We started to introduce this idea to actuarial students of majority intakes to hear about their interest and also to get their signature for the proposal. Eventually, ASC was officially founded in January 2019.

The proposal was rejected by the administration office twice as the idea of establishing an actuarial society is viewed as too similar with Accounting & Finance Club. Fortunately, we managed to persuade them in the end, and got our proposal approved."
